In one of Wolfgang Kohler’s many insight experiments, a chimpanzee was placed inside a cage, and a banana was placed outside of the cage. Two sticks were placed inside the cage, and one of them was hollow at one end. The chimpanzee came to realize that it could fit one stick onto the other in order to make one long stick, and was then able to reach the banana.
