The Dynamic Childhood Brain: Preparing for a Lifetime


During embryonic development, the human brain grows as new neurons emerge and migrate to their proper destinations. At the fall 2011 Parents & Science program, Rockefeller University neuroscientist Mary E. Hatten describes this dynamic period of transformation and also discusses abnormalities in early development that may play a role in learning disabilities, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and some forms of childhood epilepsy.
